US Secretary of State Kerry said, US and other countries would consider increasing support to opposition if Assad did not discuss a political solution.
US Secretary State John Kerry said, US and other countries would consider increasing support to the Syrian opposition if Syrian President Bashar al-Assad did not discuss a political solution to end the bloodshed which cost thousands of lives in Syria.
During the Friends of Syria bloc meeting in Jordan, Kerry called on Assad to end the bloodshed in Syria immediately adding that what had been going on in Syria for more than two years was unacceptable.
Delegates from the US, Britain, Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, France, Germany, Egypt, Italy, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and the National Coalition for Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces attended the meeting to seek a political solution in Syria.
Delegates gathering at the meeting compared notes and discussed political solution process in Syria as well as supporting the Syrian Opposition.
Kerry also hailed Turkey and Jordan for the responsibility they have burdened by offering humanitarian relief to the Syrians.
George Sabra, Interim President of the National Coalition for Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces, and Chief of General Staff of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) Salim Idris saidAssad regime was backed up by Hezbollah forces and the regime was conducting ethnic and sectarian cleansing.
Sabra and Idris called on the international community to support the FSA urgently as they have remained incapable against the Syrian Army backed the external powers.
Sabra said The Syrian National Coalition was ready to put efforts for the political solution process adding that “Future of Syria can not have Assad regime who has blood of his own people on his hands.”
