Turkish premier’s wife has said that Turkey has been exerting great efforts for Syrians who fled violence in their country, but western countries did not assume an effective attitude over the matter.
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s wife Emine Erdogan attended an international conference on Arakan in Istanbul on Sunday.
Erdogan said that Turkey was the first state which provided assistance to Myanmar apart from international aid organizations, stating that they felt sad that the world and especially western countries were indifferent to what has happened in Arakan region in Myanmar.
Turkey has continued to assist Arakan region and Turkish Red Crescent established three field hospitals upon demand by Myanmar’s government, she said.
Erdogan said they expected regional countries to show more sensitivity on the issue.
