The EU and Turkey will hold a special summit early in March to come up with an agreement to handle the refugee crisis, European Council President Donald Tusk said on Friday.
In November, in the EU-Turkey summit, Turkey had agreed to cut migrant flows. Pressure to enforce this plan is growing as EU officials state that thousands of refugees continue to cross the Aegean from Turkey. Last year, more than one million refugees made this extremely dangerous journey.
Turkish authorities consistently hold the position that the Syrian refugee crisis was not only a problem concerning Turkey and other countries neighboring Syria but the whole of humanity.
