Turkey has begun recovering from a cyber attack which had lasted a week. However, there has been criticism from IT experts over its decision to attempt to solving the problem by barring international access to the country’s DNS.
The cyber attack in Turkey began on December 14 and has targeted nearly 400,000 websites with the extension “.tr.”
An IT source claims it is not clear whether Russia was behind the cyber attack. Initial reports pointed out that Russian hackers were behind the mass slowdown both in internet access and the operation of thousands of Turkish websites, including government ones.
IT professionals have been critical of the method adopted by the government in barring access to Turkish websites from abroad, stating that the country should have been better prepared for any possible cyber attacks.
