On World Environment Day, Minister of Environment and Urban Planning Erdoğan Bayraktar stated Turkey was more advanced than Europe on environmental issues.
Bayraktar was talking at a park opening ceremony being the part of the World Environment Day events which was took place yesterday in Istanbul.
“The world is a small-scale planet and contaminated easily, merely once it gets contaminated it’s not easy to clean. Europe has contaminated its land with industrialisation. They took in Stockholm in 1972 and told ‘the world is getting contaminated, global warming and the greenhouse effect are expanding. Where will this lead?’ Petrol, fossil fuel, and coal are resulting in carbonic acid gas in the air which dangers the lives of all creatures.
That is why they installed World Environment Day. The world is expending large amounts of money to hold the world clean, but even under these circumstances we’re much more advanced than Europe,” Bayraktar stated.
