Thee U.S.Senate has unanimously passed rigid new sanctions against North Korea due to its violations of international law, particularly regarding the testing of nuclear weapons and missile technology.
This measure targets North Korea’s ability to access the funds it needs in order to develop miniaturized nuclear warheads and the long-range missiles to deliver them.
The Senate legislation follows Pyongyang’s recent sattelite launch and technical advances that the U.S. intelligence agencies say is aimed at developing an intercontinental ballistic missile with a nuclear warhead. Pyongyang says that it is merely developing a peaceful satellite capability.
