Time has no dimension. It has no past, present or future. Why do we attach any movement, happening or event with time? Does time actually exist or is it the creation of human beings and their intellectual brainstorming?
Does time have any beginning or end? If it has a beginning, what or how was it and if it has an end how, why and when will it take place? What is pre and post time? What we call time, is it not in the movement of the earth and the sun? What we call day and night, are they not the result of the earth’s rotation? What do we call seasons, are they not the movements of the sun? Do our watches and clocks count the movement and rotation of the earth and sun? Do not we confuse stars’ movements with time? And is time merely the interval between two incidents or events? Is time the fundamental structure of the universe or anything beyond its premises? What we call morning, noon, evening or night, or at any point of time, are they not actually the sections of day and night? Is not all this the story of sunset and sunrise? And in those countries where six months are days and six months are nights or any other proportion of days and nights, what is all that? Is not all this the story of movement and rotation?
The formation of months, days and year is the humans’ manifestation to adjust days, nights, seasons and weathers. A day comes again and so does the night. A summer repeats as does the winter. A spring turns as does the autumn. Are the repetitions of nature’s occurrences time?
More than 6000 years ago, the moon was the source of the calendar. It was Julius Caesar who first adopted the solar calendar 45 years before the birth of Christ. But it had flaws as it used to advance 11 minutes every year. It was then corrected by Pope Gregory XIII in 1582 as a Gregorian calendar which is still working. The modern Iranian calendar and the Gregorian calendars are based on the corrections on leap years made by a renowned Muslim scientist of the medieval times, Omer al Khayyam. Is not the division of months into days associated with the movements of the moon?
Every ancient civilization has its own system of months parallel to the Gregorian calendar. The Indians, the Persians, the Japanese, the Chinese, the Muslims, etc. have their own centuries old versions of months, start and end of the year and also of seasons. The East is richer in the diversity of calendars than the West.
What we call BC and AD, meaning before Christ or after Christ (Anno Domini), means that we have made an incident the base and actually we are counting the movement of the stars. Interestingly, there is no zero year. AD1 immediately follows 1 BC. The categorization of dates was made in AD 525 which could not become common until 800 AD. The 33 years which Jesus lived are neither the part of AD nor of the BC and even not of zero time. Amusingly, ISO 8601 standard designates AD 1 as year 1 but designates 1BC as year 0 (zero) and even not zero year.
What is the relationship between space, time and the universe? One thing is definite that the small items move around the big ones due to gravitational pull and not vice versa. The scientists of the Big Bang believe that matter, energy, space and time were in fact formed as the result of it. Has anybody ever seen or felt time? Energy can be felt at least by a living being. Matter can be weighed. One thing that can neither be seen, nor felt, sensed, tasted or touched and transferred is time.
Thus, the Big Bang can be considered as the mother of time. When the scientists failed to find any clue of time, they named it the outcome of the Big Bang. If they say that time is the result of the Big Bang, then why do not they chronicle it since the Big Bang? Why do they start it from an incident like AD or BC? Why is it 2015 now? Why has it not started from the episode of the Big Bang?
The first known time measuring device was the Egyptian made T-square which dates back to 1500 BC. It in reality used to calculate the shadow of the device based on sunlight. Thus, it was basically the measurement of the shadow, not of time. The Greenwich observatory has not been in use since 1954 but we still use it. Since 1928, the world is moving on Universal Time adopted by the International Astronomical Union based on an international telescope-based system.
Only those things move which have mass. Time has no mass. Thus it does not move. Then what is time travel? The thing among mass, time and movement is space. The only physical thing is mass. Space is non-physical and intangible. So is time. The case to put here is that what we actually call time is not time. For our ease, we have named an intangible thing “time”. We have divided a non-existent and hypothetical thing into seconds, minutes, hours and so on. How can one name a thing that can’t be sensed through any sense, not even with the sixth or seventh senses? A thing that is nowhere is named time. Thus, if one believes in time, why does one not believe in God, who has almost the same characteristics as time?
