Secretary General of the United Nations (UN) Ban Ki-moon on Monday said that he was concerned over the escalating tension and new wave of violence between Israel and Gaza and the death of many Palestinians.
In a statement made on Monday, Ban’s spokesperson stressed that Ban was deeply sad over those who died and that he called on the sides to deescalate tension as soon as possible.
“Ban strongly condemned the firing of rockets into Israel from the Palestinian side and called on the Palestinians to immediately stop such rocket attacks. Ban made a call on Israel to act with calm and to act according to international laws so as to prevent a wave of violence and to protect civilians,” the UN spokesperson also said.
