Data on the flight recorder of the Russian Su-24 shot down by Turkish F-16 fighters on 24 November, is currently unreadable according to Russia’s military, which had hoped the data would prove the jet never entered Turkish airspace. Work will continue on the recorder, but 13 of its 16 chips have completely been destroyed.
Turkey insists that the jet both entered and ignored warnings to leave its airspace. The incident has caused a significant rift in the relationship between the two countries, with Russia imposing sanctions and demanding an apology from Turkey.
