President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Saturday released an Easter message to mark the Christian feast.
“We believe that not being exposed to religious, linguistic and ethnic discrimination, and being able to freely pursue one’s own culture, tradition and beliefs – today, as in the past – are fundamental human rights,” Erdoğan said in a statement.
“In accordance with these feelings and ideas, I congratulate all Christians for their Easter holiday, particularly our Christian citizens, and I send greetings to them all with warmth,” the president further said in his message.
Easter is celebrated by Christians to mark the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and his resurrection.
