“The Islamic Republic of Iran came to the negotiating table with rationality, logic and common sense,” Rouhani stresses.
“The legitimate rights of our people are our redline in negotiations. Within the framework of international law, operations on nuclear energy and the enrichment of uranium on Iranian land are included among these rights,” Iranian President Hasan Rouhani said Sunday during parliament’s morning session. “The Islamic Republic of Iran came to the negotiating table with rationality, logic and common sense,” Rouhani stressed. Noting that Iran’s plan consists of three basic steps, he said, “We witnessed the angst and anger with which the imperialist powers and the world’s powerful countries participating in the negotiations responded to even the general framework of Iran’s plan.”
Stressing that sanctions, discrimination and threats against Iran would prove futile, Rouhani stated, “The Islamic Republic of Iran has not, and will not, bow down in the face of threats.” Asserting that Iran had not been forced to the negotiation table due to sanctions, he indicated that Iran had also been willing to negotiate in the early 2000s before the “illegal” sanctions were implemented. He added that negotiations would end in favor of both sides. International powers express concern that Iran is trying to build a nuclear weapon but Iran says its program is peaceful.
