Mosaffa’s feature-length filmThe Last Step received the Love and Psyche Prize at the Main Competition section of the 18th MedFilm Festival held in Rome.
According to the festival’s organizers, the award went to the film for “its high artistic content and its special respect for humanity, culture, music, family and especially for the woman.”
Inspired by James Joyce’s The Dead, the film recounts the story of a successful actress and the challenges she faces at work after the death of her husband.
Featuring world-renowned Iranian actress Leila Hatami, The Last Step is Mosaffa’s second feature-length film that has been screened in several international events.
The film competed at the 2012 edition of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival and also received the Crystal Globe award of the Czech festival, held from June 29 to July 7, 2012.
The movie was also presented at the 12th edition of Osian’s Cinefan Film Festival in India as well as in Barbakan International Film Festival, Slovakia.
MedFilm Festival, as the main Italian film festival, aims at promoting the dissemination of the European and Mediterranean cinema.
The 18th MedFilm Festival was held from October 19 to 28, 2012.
