Catherine Ashton said that she was highly concerned about the incidents taking place at the Turkish-Syrian border.
High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Catherine Ashton on Monday said that she was highly concerned about the incidents taking place at the Turkish-Syrian border.
Speaking to reporters after a meeting of EU foreign ministers, Ashton stressed that Syrian artillery shells landing in Turkey were “absolutely unacceptable”.
“I believe what Turkey is doing is crucial. The Turks approved a Prime Ministry motion in their parliament to send troops abroad if necessary. The Turks have made a call on Syrian authorities not to spread the crisis in the region and to calm down the situation,” Ashton stated.
Turkey is doing all it can to help the Syrian refugees at the highest quality possible, Ashton also said.
