Veteran Turkish cinema and theater actor Erol Günaydın, who died on Oct. 15 at the age of 79, was laid to rest yesterday.
He passed away in Istanbul’s Kadıköy Acıbadem Hospital where he had been receiving treatment for some time.
The first ceremony in remembrance of Günaydın was held at the Ses Theater. His daughters Ayşe, Fatoş and Günfer Günaydın, as well as granddaughter Sofia Moro, received condolences at the ceremony.
A selection of highlights from Günaydın’s interviews, films and plays was shown in a brief film at the ceremony. This film is a short part of his life,” actor Tuncel Kurtiz said. Among the other attendees of the ceremony were Haldun Dormen, Erdal Özyağcılar, Salih Kalyon, Demet Akbağ, Ali Poyrazoğlu, Derya Baykal, Erkan Can, Nedim Saban, Mehmet Ali Alabora and many others.
After the ceremony, Günaydın’s funeral continued at the Teşvikiye Mosque.
