German Green Party co-chairman calls for the continuation of EU enlargement process.
The co-chairman of the German Green Party Cem Ozdemir on Tuesday said that the European Union’s enlargement should continue and that he hopes that Bosnian Herzegovina, the west of the Balkans and Turkey joined the club.
“It’s indubitable that the EU should make it’s homework but that does not mean that the enlargement should be suspended. The Balkans saw fearful wars where ten thousands of people lost their lives. The EU has a debt of conscience.”
Ozdemir said that the EU was the best peace project and added that they supported the reform process in Turkey since it begun and that this was a historical chance for the new government.
