Within the framework of working visit to Turley, Kyrgyzstan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Ruslan Kazakbayev met with Istanbul Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu, the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry’s press service reported Friday.
During the meeting, the Kyrgyz foreign minister called on Ekrem Imamoglu to more actively promote the bilateral twin-city relations with Osh city in the framework of the implementation of paragraphs of the Protocol on twin-city relations between the cities of Osh and Istanbul, signed on Sept. 20, 1997 in Osh .
At the same time, Kazakbayev conveyed a message from Osh Mayor Taalaibek Sarybashov to Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu.
The parties agreed on the necessity to exchange experience of municipalities of the two cities, including organization of mutual visits of delegations in the near future.
Foreign Minister Kazakbayev also stressed the importance of cooperation in combating the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. In this context, the Kyrgyz side expressed gratitude to the Turkish side for assistance in combating the consequences of the epidemic.
