EU Minister Bagis said Turkey would carry even a slightest problem during AEL Limassol FC-Fenerbahce game, to international institutions.
Turkey’s Fenerbahce and Greek Cypriot AEL Limassol FC will play an UEFA Europa League game on October 25 in Greek Cypriot side.
People have concerns regarding AEL Limassol-Fenerbahce game as Turkish teams had faced several difficulties in Greek Cypriot side in the past games, said Bagis, adding, “Greek Cypriots very well know that we don’t hesitate to carry even a slightest problem to international institutions.”
This game is an opportunity for Greek Cypriot administration to prove whether it is a state or not, said Bagis, adding, “because past mistakes show that Greek Cypriots are not even a tribe, let alone a state. Now they have an opportunity.”
Commenting on Fenerbahce’s not being able to go to Cyprus via Ercan Airport in Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), Bagis said that Fenerbahce could not use the airport as TRNC was not a recognized country by the EU as well as due to UEFA and EU rules.
