The 9th Ankara Flamenco Festival will be organized from Oct. 10 to 17 in Turkey’s capital. Organized by the Ankara Flamenco Association in collaboration with the Spanish Embassy Cultural Attaché, the festival will host world leading flamenco guitar virtuosos and dancers.
As well as the concerts and shows, flamenco lovers will have chance to attend workshops and a flamenco walk will be held on Tunalı Hilmi Avenue. A night dedicated solely to flamenco will also be held.
The first day of the festival will feature famous Italian flamenco guitarist Livio Gianola and dancer Cristina Hall at the Middle East Technical University (ODTÜ) KKM Kemal Kurdaş Hall, in a show entitled “Otro Sitio.”
On Oct. 11, the Çankaya Municipality Contemporary Arts Center will host Turkish dancer Senem Balaban and Swedish Siri Salminen. The duo will present a contemporary flamenco dance project, the “Mirenesis Flamenco Project.”
Calo Flamenco will take the stage on Oct. 14 at the Nesibe Aydın Arts Academy. The Ankara-based group will present new flamenco and fusion flamenco works. Young dancers Elif Akbaydoğan and Fırat Yalçın will accompany the group.
The Ankara Flamenco Association will organize an entertaining show on Oct. 15 at Çankaya Crossroads Pub.
A Spanish guest of the festival, Oscar Guzman Ensemble, will take the stage on the closing day of the festival on Oct. 17 at the National Education Ministry Şura Hall. The group will perform their album “Calle de las Memorias.” Lola Jaramillo and Jesús Herrera will accompany the group.
