Turkish President Abdullah Gül on Thursday shared his photos on Twitter from his hospital bed at Hacettepe University where is getting medical treatment for a repeating ear problem.
Gül celebrated Victory Day, which is celebrated annually on Aug. 30 to mark the military triumph in the final battle of Turkey’s Independence War in 1922, on Twitter on Thursday. Showing regret that he could not attend to the official celebrations as per doctor’s recommendation, Gül told he will rest at the hospital for a few more days. “Thanks to God, my health is ameliorating. My doctors are apportioning the most recent information about my health] with you,” Gül told.
Expressing that he has received numerous messages from across Turkey wishing him a speedy recovery, Gül thanked all those who sent him messages and prayers.
“In the meantime, I’m not wasting my time in hospital. I’m going ahead with my studies. I’m reading reports and books,” Gül tweeted with a photo showing him reading some reports in his bed.
The president was hospitalized on Aug. 23, cutting short a visit to Kyrgyzstan for the Second Summit of the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States (CCTS) in Bishkek, a visit he had begun last Wednesday.
Gül has postponed all foreign trips in the coming two months at the request of his doctors, who also said his situation was improving and that he can slowly resume his daily activities.
