President Barack Obama and Republican Party’s presidential nominee Mitt Romney will square accounts on television for the third and last time, before the elections.
They will discuss foreign policy issues during the 90-minutes-long debate on Monday that will be moderated by Bob Schieffer of CBS television at Lynn University, in Florida.
US’s place in the world, the war in Afghanistan, Israel and Iran, the transition in the Middle East, terrorism and the rise of China are the topics they will be asked questions on.
Although foreign policy is not an issue of interest for most Americans, the debate is seen as the last chace for the nominees to persuade the indecisive voters.
Obama is favored because of having Osama bin Laden killed, ending the war in Iraq and starting withdrawing troops from Afghanistan but Romney is expected to lie heavily on Obama on issues like the lingering crisis in Syria, attack on US’s Benghazi embassy that left the American ambassador dead and recent protests against US in the Midde East.
Obama is also expected to load on Romney being pro-war.
Third debate is considered the riskiest debate for Romney since he is inexperienced in foreign policy. Therefore he is expected to talk about his plans on foreign issues instead of criticising Obama.
Meanwhile a countrywide survey conducted by NBC/Wall Street Journal shows that Obama and Romney have both 47 percent support of the voters.
