Tofaş’s U.S. forward Bradley Buckman broke the hoop with a hard slam dunk, causing a 45-minute pause during the third quarter of a Spor Toto Turkish Cup basketball match Feb. 14.
Buckman was the highest scorer of the game with 23 points but his highlight came in the third quarter, when the 28-year-old broke the hoop.
Banvit coach Orhun Ene said both teams were affected badly by the incident.
“Before the hoop was broken both teams had found a rhythm. The break changed both teams negatively.”
Banvit won the game 81-78.
In another quarterfinal match also on Feb. 14, Turkish league leader Anadolu Efes beat defending champion Fenerbahçe Ülker 82-69.
Anadolu Efes will meet Banvit in the first semifinal today.
The winners of the Beşiktaş Milangaz vs. Aliağa Petkim and the Galatasaray Medical Park vs. Antalya B.B. ties will meet in the second semifinal.
