Kazakhstan’s President Nazarbayev to travel to Turkey on Thursday.
Kazakhstan’s President Nursultan Nazarbayev will pay a formal visit to Turkey on October 11-12 in terms of impulse to strengthen the multilateral ties between Turkey and Kazakhstan.
Nazarbayev will be welcomed on Thursday by his Turkish counterpart Abdullah Gul in Ankara, the Turkish capital.
While planning to hold a bilateral meeting with Gul, Nazarbayev will also be expected to meet with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
During his two-day formal trip, Nazarbayev will discuss several issues with the Turkish officials but the boosting economic cooperation between the two republics will be the main topic of the talks.
Nazarbayev will travel to Istanbul on Friday to attend several conferences and sign new economic agreements between Turkey and Kazakhstan.
Nazarbayev will participate with Turkish PM Erdogan in the first meeting of the Turkey-Kazakhstan High Level Strategic Cooperation Council which had agreed to be established during Erdogan’s formal visit to Astana in May. Both leaders will also reveal the action plan of the joint economic programme titled “New Synergy” between the both republics.
Nazarbayev will also attend Turkish-Kazakh Businessmen Forum in Istanbul.
During the Istanbul leg of his visit, Nazarbayev will ink new cooperation agreements with the Turkish officials. They are expected to sign 1.5 billion USD of new agreements.
Ahead of the official visit of Nazarbayev to Turkey, Kazakhstan’s Ambassador in Ankara Zhanseit Tuimebayev told Anadolu Agency that Nazarbayev’s visit to Turkey would impulse to strengthen the multilateral ties between the both countries.
Tuimebayev said that first meeting of the Turkey-Kazakhstan High Level Strategic Cooperation Council in Istanbul was crucial for bilateral relations, particularly in terms of consolidation of economic trade ties with Turkey.
The ambassador also said that during the meeting, both leaders would reveal the action plan of the joint economic programme titled “New Synergy”.
“The meeting in Istanbul is very pivotal in terms of synergy projects for both countries. We need to take a step in trade, economy, education and culture fields and during the meeting we are going to reveal the action plan for those fields. Turkey and Kazakhstan are going to sign 1.5 billion USD of new agreements. These agreements will help strengthen the target of reaching 10 billion USD trade volume between both countries,” said Tuimebayev.
Stating that transportation was the biggest obstacle before improvement of trade volume between Turkey and Kazakhstan, Tuimebayev said that there was a need for completion of railway line between Turkey and Kazakhstan.
“The completion of ‘Turkey-Iran’ and ‘Iran-Turkmenistan-Kazakhstan’ railway lines will allow us to extend our trade volume. In addition, it will also enable us to send Kazakhstan’s energy resources to world market via Turkey,” said Tuimebayev.
Touching upon the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Turkey and Kazakhstan, Tuimebayev expressed that they had a strong affection for Turks because of their descent.
Tuimebayev noted that both countries’ relations had become more intense over 20 years after Kazakhstan gained its independence.
“Both countries’ relations have never reached the level it deserves. Both countries have a great potential and I do believe that we can achieve better things,” said Tuimebayev.
