Mario Kunasek, Defence Minister of Austria, called for more EU’s engagement, up to and including military assistance, in the region of Western Balkans, N1 reports.
In the light of a conference of experts that took place in Austria’s capital yesterday, Minister Kunasek emphasised the importance of the region for Europe’s security.
“The countries of South-eastern Europe are our immediate neighbours. This is why it is necessary to engage there in order to secure stability and security – for example through providing military assistance in managing migrations and borders”, he said.
Mario Kunasek also invited his colleagues from the Western Balkan countries to visit Graz, where cooperation can be discussed in detail.
