Republican Presidential candidate and real estate tycoon Donald Trump has received new support from Sarah Palin, the ex-Governor of Alaska, who was the Republican vice-presidential candidate in the failed 2008 Republican campaign alongside John McCain.
Ms.Palin pointed to Mr Trump’s business credentials and wealth as evidence he would not be beholden to special interests, and said he could “make America great again,” in an echo of Mr Trump’s campaign slogan.
Ms Palin has retired from politics to pursue a media career after the 2008 race, but remains influential in conservative circles. Mr.Trump, who is currently leading the Republican race, said in a statement that he was “proud” to receive her backing.
