Turkey is represented by Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu at the Third Meeting of the Group of Friends of the Syrian People with the participating of over 100 country representatives & Syrian opposition groups on 6 July 2012 in Paris.
Speaking at the meeting Foreign Minister Davutoğlu expressed that Syrian Administration has lost its legitimacy and an effective transitional government should be set up with a view to halting the bloodshed in Syria. Stressing the importance of support given to Syrian Opposition, Foreign Minister Davutoğlu wanted to press upon the countries which supports Syrian Administration in terms of ending their supports. Expressing that the crisis in Syria is deepening day by day Foreign Minister Davutoğlu pointed out that the international community should mobilize to end the crisis. Foreign Minister Davutoğlu also called for the next meeting as Friends of Syrian People to organize at the UN General Assembly in New York.
The proposal of “establishment of a transitional government” resolved at the meeting of Syria Action Group on 30 June 2012 in Geneva and in this regard the issues of implementing six-point plan of Kofi Annan, Joint Special Envoy of the United Nations and the League of Arab States on the Syrian Crisis were brought to the agenda at the meeting.
