Heavy rainfalls on Monday morning in Samsun sparked another flashflood in the province, killing one person in the Ayvacık district.
The Ayvacık and Terme districts of Samsun were flooded, breaking the beginning of the workweek. In the village of Çalaman, settled in Ayvacık district, 3 people were wounded and had to be saved from a collapsed home. One of the wounded reportedly died in the ambulance on the way to the hospital.
The heavy waterspout stimulated a stream to overflow, damaging a bridge and flooding Salıpazarı State Hospital’s ground floor with one patient having to be displaced to another hospital. Samsun Governor Hüseyin Aksoy has told emergency squads were directed to the area and that 39 people were saved in Salıpazarı district alone.
