Ahmet Davutoğlu , Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, made a visit to Egypt on 2-3 July 2012, on the affair of the Syrian Opposition Conference under the protection of the Arab League.
Making a speech at the conference Foreign Minister Davutoğlu stated that Turkey’s policy toward Syrian Arab Republic is apparent. While ingeminating that Turkey backs up the Syrian people who are calling for democratic rights, Ahmet Davutoğlu advised Syrian opposition groups to cooperate and join their forces.
As part of his visit to Egypt, Ahmet Davutoğlu held bilateral meetings. He was welcomed by the President of Egypt, Mohammed Morsi. Talking over the cooperation issues between Turkey and Egypt on diverse areas at the meeting, Ahmet Davutoğlu complimented on President Morsi for his victory in the presidential election. Ahmet Davutoğlu emphasised that Turkey advocates for a strong Egypt in the region and remarked the importance of the strategical cooperation mechanism between Turkey and Egypt.
What is more, Ahmet Davutoğlu met with Mohamed Kamel Amr. Ahmet Davutoğlu talked over the recent developments in the Arab world with a group of Egyptian academicians. Meeting with Amre Moussa, former Secretary General of the Arab League and Hamdeen Sabbahi Leader of the Nasserist Kerame Party, Foreign Minister Davutoğlu interchanged aspects on the issues of political developings in Egypt, situation in the Middle East and Syria. Ahmet Davutoğlu also paid a visit to Ahmad el-Tayyeb Sheik of Al-Azhar and Bak Hornois Deputy Coptic Patriarch Archbishop.
