Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu held a phone conversation with US Secretary of State John Kerry about Wednesday’s police assault on civilians in Egypt.
According to diplomatic sources, Davutoglu held a phone conversation with Kerry on Wednesday in wake of the deadly crackdown on the Egyptian people.
Both ministers condemned the use of violence on Egyptian civilians and shared their concern over the possibility of escalating violence in the country.
In the phone call which two ministers laid stress on the need of stopping the bloodshed in Egypt urgently and to start an effective process to return democracy, they discussed the steps which should be taken towards that direction.
For that reason, Davutoglu and Kerry informed each other about the diplomatic contacts regarding latest developments in Egypt.
Kerry and Davutoglu agreed on holding official talks about Egypt in the following days.
