Which country did the previous 265 Popes come from (according to today’s borders)?
NB: In several cases, the birthplaces of Popes was not clearly recorded. For example, in the case of the three Popes said to have been born in modern-day Tunisia, there are historical references to them being of Berber (North African) origin. According to most sources, at least one was born in what is now Tunisia. Other historical texts suggest modern-day Libya as the birthplace of one of the two other Berbers, and other less precisely mention North Africa.
