The international community will keep urging Damascus to allow in humanitarian aid into its violence-hit areas, Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu said today in Tunis, but added that if the country’s human tragedy continued, “other options” would be considered.
“We’ll increase diplomatic efforts. But, if those efforts do not produce results, [the idea of] a humanitarian corridor, which also needs to be protected, could be revived,” Davutoğlu said after a meeting at the so-called “Friend of Syria” conference.
Turkey, however, hopes the Syrian regime perceives the message given in the meeting and leaves no need for the international community to resort to such measures, he added.
