Turkish culture minister said that a golden-winged seahorse brooch, the most important piece in King Croesus’ treasures, stolen from a museum in Turkey was found in Germany.
At a gathering in Istanbul, Culture and Tourism Minister Ertugrul Gunay said that the brooch, the most valuable piece from the Treasure of Croesus which had been stolen from the archeology museum in the Aegean province of Usak in 2005, was found and seized in Germany.
Turkish and German officials agreed that the brooch belonged to Turkey and the legal procedure was under way, he said.
Gunay said that he hoped the valuable piece would be brought to Turkey by the end of the year or in the beginning of 2013.
