An election that excites the world… Will only America look from the window that this election will create? Or, with the fingertips accompanied by the election, will it be a scene open to the entire world? With no doubt, I’m mentioning the election that the world focused on nowadays, the presidential election of The United States of America…
Today, when the borders became thoroughly transparent, the smallest change in the macro world which is in the process of globalization results in macro changes powerful enough to affect the smallest tribe living in the other end of the world… War decision of a country causes all economic, diplomatic, and military decision making mechanisms of contiguous countries to be reviewed. On the other hand, struggles of a country that is in a crisis period may bounce to economic leaps of another country on the other end of the world and affect them seriously. Here, on the global world of today where the borders are removed, there exist power mechanisms beyond macro level which seriously shakes micro decisions at a serious degree… High-ranking macro countries that dominate state of affairs of the world… And as it is guessed, America is one of them…
Surely we should review U.S.A. history in order to understand the transnational power it embodies and how it became the today’s decision maker which forces the meridians of the world. Date is late 15th century…. Christopher Columbus steps on the continent of America… And the process continues… Colonization, foundations of colonies, expansion to the west… And the date is 4 July 1776, the direction changes with that unforgettable moment when the America declares its independence! After gaining speed with Industrial Revolution on 19th Century, after the cold war and civil war, thanks to the success of U.S.A. in the 1st World War and its superiority in the 2nd World War, it became the superpower in the world.
It is doubtless that the diplomatic process used while becoming a super central power is the keyword to be observed. Today, we can’t mention only a single aspect of culture of foreign politics owned by U.S.A. It has different aspects. We need to examine the internal structure and political development of a government that shows differences about the foreign politics it uses, in order to understand foreign politics of it… At this point, in order to attain process of interpreting diplomacy in a healthy way, it is required to understand the tie of Politics and political culture. Politics is the activity after it has been passed through the filter of political culture. Therefore; the politics which is incorporated with the worldview and experience which is owned by all political leaders is an important line powerful enough to rewrite an era. Especially, if we’re talking about U.S.A. which is on the status of world power…
When we evaluate the state of affairs within the light of the information above… Democratic Party leader Obama and Republic Party leader Mitt Romney… Two powerful candidates! And extreme rivalry! But on 6th of November, U.S.A. and as a result, the world will have been reached to the end of this race. The success of Obama at fight against terrorism, and the other hand, Romney with the superiority in economics…
When we look, the groundbreaking, idealist and charismatic leader is Obama… He is young, his ability of expressing is strong, he is confident, experienced, and the side that impresses me most is, he is a character that can put forth the past and today on the same side and in the most wanted way. I’m mentioning the first black president who told to the entire world “and that day has come” addressing Martin Luther King, after the racist cruelty against the black in the history. After his birth, he had chance to observe a vast variety of persons in a vast variety of conditions. He has a strong mentality that looks from the viewpoint of different ethnic cultures. Therefore, his window is quite rich and his point of view is almost unlimited. He is grown with black, white, Muslim, Christian assimilations and he is a leader who succeeded in excelling on many points! And unlike Bush, his extremely peaceful policy maybe hit the spot among the world. On the other hand these observations strengthen the theorems of people about not taking risks, and this reduces the chance of Romney.
As for Romney, he is an intelligent an ambitious businessman. On his progress about politics, it’s possible to see traces of his father. An intelligent brain that never gives up, tries again every time, and moves in quite a planned way… A political background where he became a candidate for governorship elections of Massachusetts State and became elected… With no doubt that, his most important success was establishing a universal health insurance system on a state for the first time in the U.S.A. The fact that he eliminated his other republican rivals with remarkable difference is another factor brought him against Obama…
And today we know that, alterations on the references of foreign politics in the diplomatic perception are signs show that world is being identified again. If not Democrat Party but Republican Party of Mitt Romney prevails according to the results of the election, it’s doubtless that it may progress with a different political perspective and as a macro power, it may change the course of the world to another direction. But; it should also be remembered that, as the leader of Democrat Party, Obama may draw its route with golden letters by following quite a different strategy, if he gains right to become the president again, for the 2nd time on the world history. And in these days we know that this is an election impressive enough to affect not only America but also all the micro units! And the actual question on which all the world has been focused; starting from the 6th November, with what kind of foreign politics will U.S.A. continue to accompany centuries, and with which leader’s name will it continue in the 21st century?
