Turkish General Staff said that 26 terrorists affiliated with Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) were killed in three southeastern provinces.
Counter-terror operations on Tuesday in Mardin province’s Nusaybin town killed nine terrorists, where a total of 54 terrorists have been killed so far. During operations, security forces also deactivated nine homemade bombs in Nusaybin. The number of explosive materials deactivated by the military in Nusaybin has risen to 149, according to General Staff’s statement.
Nine PKK terrorists were killed in Şırnak province in the latest round of the ongoing sweeping operation. The number of neutralized PKK terrorists climbed to 50, the military said. Fourteen bombs were seized by the military. So far, security forces have defused a total of 78 home-made bombs in the restive areas of the town.
During the operation, security forces also seized a large cache of weapons, which was listed as: four Kalashnikov infantry rifles, three hunting rifles, 55 home-made explosives, one hand grenade, two guns, 471 Kalashikov chargers, 50 kg of ammonium nitrate, and three sniper binoculars.
Elsewhere in the Southeast, security forces neutralized eight more terrorists and defused five explosive devices in Hakkari province’s Yüksekova town, according to military. Since the beginning of the military campaign, a total of 65 terrorists have been killed and 34 home-made bombs have been defused in Yüksekova.
